Will the new offense for Las Vegas get a W in their season opener against the Chargers
The Las Vegas Raiders head to SoFI Stadium Sunday afternoon to face off against AFC West
rivals Los Angeles Chargers. Last year’s season finale between the two teams came down to
the final spot to get in the playoffs, the Raiders came out on top with the game winning field goal in the final seconds of overtime.
This season both teams have loaded up with talent on both sides of the field with the Raiders adding NFL’s best Receiver Davante Adams, Edge rusher Chandler Jones and Cornerback Rock Ya-Sin. The Chargers went out and grabbed former Raider and Bears Edge rusher Khalil Mack and CB JC Jackson. This matchup Sunday afternoon could go either way. I expect Raiders new head coach Josh McDaniels to dial up an air attack since JC Jackson will be doubtful for the Chargers.
Coach McDaniels also has a great running attack which he had on display this preseason leading the league in yards and rushing touchdowns. Chargers head coach Brandon Staley will look to get his defense to rattle Raiders quarterback Derek Carr early to force 3 and outs. If he manages to do that, he’ll look for quarterback Justin Herbert and company on offense to jump out and control the game. Overall, I see this as a close game but, in favor of the Raiders. I don’t really see anyone on that secondary while Jackson is out stopping Adams while having to deal with Tight end Darren Waller and Receiver Hunter Renfrow. This well be a challenge as well as for the Raiders defense facing off against Herbert, Eckler and Allen. Their new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham was a solid coordinator in New York for the Giants. The question will be, will it transfer over to the Silver and Black?
