With the New Year on the brink, you knew what time it was for sports in generals, especially the college playoffs and what was stake. In the Cotton Bowl matchup between Miami and Ohio State to advance to the semifinals, Miami jumped all over Ohio State. Carson Beck had a heck of a half, throwing the ball efficiently with 104 yards and 1 touchdown and make safe passes to keep Ohio State on their heels. Their second score of the first half came late in the second quarter as Miami's defense to an interception to crib.

Miami looked completely in control until the last-minute left in the half as Ohio looked to put points on the board. They got into Jayden Fielding's range, but he yanked it wide left end the half.

Coming out of half, Miami liked how they had contained Julian Sayin from extending plays with his legs and making it tough for him. Also, they wanted to be a little more aggressive with keeping their foot on the gas.

Miami's defense most have feel asleep for a brief moment because Ohio State came out the gate and ran the ball down the throats of the Hurricanes. They capped off the drive to cut into the lead. However, after a few close turnovers, Miami kicked a field goal late in the third to make it a 17-7 game.

Let's take it to late in the fourth quarter. With the Buckeyes making things pretty tight with a couple of scores, momentum was shifting very quickly to Ohio's sideline. Beck tried to settle his team down, but Ohio's state defense was clamping up their star receivers. Clinging onto a three-point lead, Beck and Crew got into rhythm and chewed a lot of time off the clock as they went 10 plays and scored off a CharMar Brown 7-yard bull rushing run to ice up the game.

Beck finished 19 out of 26 for 138 yards and 1 TD
