Will the Dallas Stars shine bright this season

The Dallas Stars came into this season looking to surpass last season’s outcome, as they failed to reach the Stanley Cup finals by only two games in the conference finals. The Stars rewarded their general manager Jim Nill with a two-year contract extension, as they believe he is the man to put a Stanley Cup-winning roster in place.

Nill wasted no time adding additional offensive threats to the roster with forwards Matt Duchene and Craig Smith, who will add offense to their midfield attack. One of the keys to the Stars making a significant run in the playoffs will be their young, terrific 24-year-old goaltender, Jake Oettinger. A ton of credit goes to the director of amateur scouting, Joe McDonald, as he helped draft 2017 3rd overall pick Miro Heiskanen, 26th pick Jake Oettinger, and 39th pick Jason Robertson, all of whom play huge roles for the team. Drafting and developing talent has a huge impact on any organization’s future success, and the Stars have shown that they have what it takes to draft talent and develop it.

The Stars also have one of the top first lines in the NHL with Robertson, Roope Hintz, and Joe Pavelski. The depth on this Dallas roster is impressive, as they have high-quality players at each level with a good mixture of veterans and young talent. Dallas is a solid defensive team, but they are mainly an offensive team that has a ton of firepower. This season has started out hot for the Stars, as they now hold a record of 3-0-1 and look to stay healthy so they can make another deep playoff push and hopefully bring the Stanley Cup home to Dallas!
