USNST gets their swag back defeating New Zealand 6-1

Tokyo- Team USA turns back the hands of time and let the world know that they are still the team to beat.

After losing to Sweden earlier this week, the United States National Soccer Team wanted to be mistake free and focused against New Zealand. Within the first 10 minutes of the game, Team USA was very aggressive with establishing their offense and it paid off. Rose Lavelle scored the first goal of the tournament for Team USA.

Despite the aggressive start, Team USA went 1 out of 4 on goal shots and it seemed liked New Zealand was gaining control of the pace of the game. After a miss goal by New Zealand before the end of the first half, Lindsey Horan scored a cross shot goal, which put Team USA up 2-0.

After coming out of the break, Team USA stopped New Zealand a couple of times from getting the ball in the net. At the 62 minute mark, Carli Lloyd extended Team USA's lead, as she hit a header goal to make it a 3-0 game. A couple of mistakes by Team USA late in the match gave New Zealand hope. New Zealand scored a goal with under 20 minutes left in the game to make things interesting, 3-1.

Christen Press iced the game for Team USA with a goal at the 80 minute mark to quiet the critics. Team USA wasn't done. Two bench players scored two goals within four minutes off the bench to put the nail in the coffin, 6-1.
