BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU Tigers made one thing perfectly clear Saturday afternoon: Death Valley is still one of the toughest places to play in college football.

Behind an outstanding performance from quarterback Sam Leavitt and a relentless defensive effort, No. 22 LSU delivered a dominant 31-0 victory over No. 16 Mississippi State at Tiger Stadium on October 17.

The Tigers controlled the game from the opening possession, combining an explosive passing attack with a defense that refused to surrender a single point.

The victory improved LSU's record to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in Southeastern Conference play, providing a much-needed boost following a heartbreaking overtime loss to Kentucky the previous weekend.

For LSU head coach Lane Kiffin, Saturday's performance represented exactly the kind of response his team needed as the SEC season continues to intensify.
