The New York Liberty gets a rising superstar in Jonquel Jones

The New York liberty has gained a superstar player in Jonquel Jones, who was formerly with the Connecticut sun. After being defeated by the Las Vegas Aces last year in the WNBA Championship, Jones decided it was time for a change and signed with the New York liberty in a three-part deal.

The Bahamian-Bosnian basketball player is a force in the paint and that was one of the center pieces that the Liberty needed in the offseason. Last year, the Liberty snuck into the postseason as a wildcard seed and came very close to upsetting the Chicago Sky. They really did not have much of a presence in the paint and that is why the Sky came out victorious. Having Jones in the line-up with this young core, can give a boost for more pick and roll action and not relying on Sabrina Ionescu to create offense each time they get a possession.

Jones is pretty excited to be in the "Big Apple" and this is what she had to say about the move. "To be in a city like New York it speaks for itself. I felt like it was the right move and bringing a championship to NY would mean a lot to the WNBA.
