The ghosts of mistakes came back and haunted the Cowboys, as they suffer another defeat

Texas-- The Dallas Cowboys' were defeated by the Cleveland Browns, 49-38.



With the Cowboys in striking distance to go atop of the Cleveland Browns in the first quarter, Prescott drilled a strike in a tight window to Amari Cooper for a Cowboys' touchdown, 14-7. The Cowboys' secondary was getting burnt down the field on the ensuing possession and Baker Mayfield made Dallas pay. Mayfield threw his second touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr. to tie the game at 14-14 at the start the second quarter.


Mistakes cost the Cowboys two productive drives midway in the first half. Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot fumbled on consecutive drives and set the Browns in good position to score. The Browns took advantage of the turnovers and scored two touchdown in six minutes to take a demanding 28-14 lead. At the end of the half, the Browns tacked on a field goal to make the score 31-14.


Coming out the gate in the second half, the Cowboys gave up another touchdown and a field goal, which made it 41-14. Late into the third quarter, Elliot scored a touchdown and the Cowboys was successful with converting on a two-point conversion to attempt another second half comeback. The Brown's lead was cut to a three possession game, 41-22. With under six minutes in regulation, the Cowboys made the game interesting, as they scored a touchdown and was successful with their second two point conversion. Cleveland was hugging onto a 41-30 point lead. After a quick three and out by the Browns, the Cowboys went down the field and scored anther touchdown and was successful on their third three point conversion to cut Cleveland's lead down three 41-38. On the ensuing drive, the Browns scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion to win the game, 49-38.


Prescott threw for 502 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception

Elliot had 54 yards on the ground

Cooper had 12 receptions for 134 yards.
