Brittney Griner delivered a season-high 22 points, leading the red-hot Atlanta Dream to a dramatic 90-86 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday night, snapping their 15-game home winning streak.
The Lynx clawed back from an 83-70 deficit with three minutes remaining, closing the gap to three points on Napheesa Collier's basket with just 11.3 seconds left. Jordin Canada's clutch free throw with seven seconds sealed the win for Atlanta.
The Dream caught fire in the fourth quarter, sinking their first six shots and following up with three more in a row after a Collier block. Collier poured in 13 points during the final period alone.
Canada contributed 18 points for the Dream (15-10), while Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Allisha Gray each added 12.
Collier was unstoppable, finishing with 32 points on 14-of-18 shooting, along with eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and two blocks, leading the Lynx (22-5). Alanna Smith chipped in 12 points, Courtney Williams had 11, and Natisha Hiedeman added 10.
The Lynx's franchise-record home winning streak, the fourth-longest in WNBA history, came to an end.
Atlanta's shooting was a stark contrast: after a 5-of-20 performance in the third quarter, which allowed Minnesota to trim a 14-point halftime lead to three, the Dream shot an impressive 29-of-45 (71%) across the other three quarters. The Lynx shot 56% overall but struggled beyond Collier, with the rest of the team shooting 48%. They were also outscored by nine at the free-throw line.
The Lynx will wrap up their five-game homestand on Wednesday, hosting the defending champion New York Liberty in their first meeting of the season, a rematch of last year's WNBA Finals.
