Sky stuns Aces, hitting a go-ahead three at the end of regulation

After hitting a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining in the game, Sydney Taylor finished with 29 points in the Chicago Sky's 84-83 win over the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday evening.

Taking an inbounds pass from Natasha Cloud, Taylor broke away from the lane and curled around a screen. It was this catch-and-shoot that ended the Sky's seven-game losing streak against the defending champions. It also gave first-year Chicago coach Tyler his first win against his former team.

This was after A'ja Wilson hit a layup with 3.2 seconds left that looked like a potential game-winner. Another dominant performance would have been punctuated by a drive from the top of the key against Kamilla Cardoso, the reigning WNBA MVP (and four-time overall winner). Wilson scored a game-high 36 points with 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the Aces, who dropped to 20-9 with the defeat.

Cloud had 11 points and DiJonai Carrington had 10 for the Sky (11-18), who were 0-6 in overtime and one-score games.

Jackie Young had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Aces (20-9). NaLyssa Smith added 17 points, and the Las Vegas reserves contributed five points.

The Aces have lost three of their past six games, leaving them 3.5 games behind the league-leading Minnesota Lynx (24-6). With a win over the Toronto Tempo on Sunday, the Golden State Valkyries can tie them for the league's second-best record.
