Storm take Game 1 of the WNBA Finals against the Las Vegas Aces 93-80
Seattle- Breanna Stewart saves the day for the Storm, as she got hot from behind the arc in the fourth court to get the victory over the Aces.
After having a 19 point lead in the first half, the Storm went cold and let the Las Vegas Aces back into the game. Breanna Stewart was controlling the boards on both sides of the floor majority of the game, but late in the third quarter, the Storm went away from her and started forcing shots up. Seattle's defense was getting lit up, as the Aces went on a 14-4 run to cut the Storms' lead to two at the end of the third quarter, 69-67.
Stewart hit two huge three pointers in the early stages of the fourth quarter to get the Storm some breathing room. The Aces was slacking on defense and was giving Stewart the three point shot without putting a hand in her face. The Storm put pressure on the Aces' guard and caused a couple of turnovers that led to six fastbreak points for them. The fourth quarter was owned and won by Stewart, as she helped her team get the victory for the Aces.
Stewart is the first player in WNBA history to have 37 points and 15 rebounds in a Finals. She finished with 37 points, 2 assists, and 15 rebounds.
Sue Bird broke a finals and career record with having 16 assists.
