Sky rains down on the Mercury's parade in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals 91-77
Chicago- The Sky dismantles the heart and soul of Mercury in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals.
After pulling out a win and finishing off the Sun, Candace Parker and crew had just one more obstacle to go through in order to complete their quest of a WNBA title. They had to go through a tough-willed Mercury team that just keeps going at you, despite their injuries. On Sunday, Game 1 was set and everything was left on the floor.
After being down six early on, the Sky got back to play into the game by being careful with the ball and letting the game come to them. Chicago used their speed to create shots for other players. Stefanie Dolson and Kahleah Copper was putting in work and kept their team within striking distance early in the second. The Sky kept raining rain drops of three point shots, shooting around 52% from behind the arch and went on a 18-2 run to go into the half with a
46-35 lead.
The Sky had built up a 17 point lead at the start of the second half. Phoenix had no answer for Cooper as she caught fire. From scoring off the dribble, getting steals, and pushing the pace of the game, Phoenix looked shell-shocked trying to stop her. The Sky went on to win and set the tone of the series.
Copper finished with 21 points
