Sabrina Ionescu hits a cold blooded game winner to start the season off
New York- With only seconds left in the game, Sabrina Ionescu nails a three pointer to defeat the Indiana Fever 90-87.
Prior to Ionescu making the three pointer, the New York Liberty kept within striking distance. Betnijah Laney and Ionescu combined for 55 points, as they put pressure on the Fever's defense .
Liberty went on a 9-2 stretch mid-way in the fourth and made a few defensive stops to close a once-double digit lead. With only a few ticks left on the clock, New York decided to go for it all. Ionescu was given the ball on the wing. She took took two dribbles and shot the ball, which went in with 1.6 seconds left in regulation.
Ionescu had to say this about the game winner. "I 100 percent had a vision of hitting a game winner," said Ionescu, "We were tied walking into the huddle and I was smiling. It was too good to be true. I was ready for the moment."
Coming off a season ending injury last year, it looks like Ionescu is 100% healthy. It will be interesting to see what type of season she may have.
