Russell Westbrook is opening a middle and high school in Los Angeles

Los Angeles- NBA Superstar Russell Westbrook will be making an impact in his community by opening up a middle and high school.

Education and inspiration is what fueled Westbrook's motivation to use his resources to build two schools in his hometown. Through his foundation Why Not? Academy, Westbrook saw his vision not to only help educate the youth, but empower them in a positive manner.

In a statement, Westbrook describes why he is taking his talents and building a legacy within the school system. “I’ve realized through the work with my [Why Not? Foundation] how often schools in underserved communities lack the resources and funding needed to support their students.”“I not only want to inspire and empower these students but I want to help provide the essential and necessary resources to set them up for success beyond the classroom.”

The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Academy will deliver world-class education to South Los Angeles youth grades 6 through 12. The goals for the school will help develop academic achievers, athletes, and active citizens committed to social change.
