The Wizards 3-game win streak was snapped on Wednesday night against the Nets in overtime

Washington came into Wednesday’s game with a different bounce to their step as they were looking to win their fourth consecutive game for the first time all season. The Brooklyn Nets were in desperation mode as they needed a win to keep their play-in hopes alive. The Nets are five games back of the 10th spot, which is the lowest seed, so they really can’t afford to lose any games with only nine remaining.

Jordan Poole wasted no time getting in rhythm, as he had six first-quarter points, which helped Washington get out to a slight early advantage. The game was really back and forth for the most part, as Cam Thomas and Jordan Poole led their teams in scoring with 38 points each. Forward Kyle Kuzma showed his versatility as he recorded 10 assists along with 24 points and six rebounds. The game headed into overtime, and the Nets took full control over the game, ending the Wizards three-game win streak.

Poole's 38 points were big for the team’s future. As the offseason approaches, the Wizards are going to need him to continue to develop into the superstar they believe he can be. Washington’s trade for Marvin Bagley seems to be an excellent fit, as he contributed 18 points and six rebounds off the Wizards bench. One of the major problems for the Wizards seems to be finishing close games down the stretch, and they may need to allow Bagley to get some playing time as a starter. The next game for Washington will be at home on Friday against the Detroit Pistons, which is the only team with a worse record than the Wizards. The season is dwindling down, and it’s very important for the Wizards to create a winning culture going forward.
