Rams defeat the Vikings 30-20
Injuries have been a major factor for several teams in the NFL. The Los Angeles Rams are no exception and have been banged up on both offense and defense. The Rams have now won 2 games in the past 5 days to grab a 3-4 record and a fighting chance in the NFC West. The return of both wide receivers Puka Nacua, and Cooper Kupp combined for 12 receptions for 157 yards, and a touchdown from Kupp. Los Angeles accumulated 386 total yards and took advantage of Minnesota’s nine total penalties for 50 yards. Leading up to the Thursday Night game in SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA the Minnesota Vikings were looking to turn a Sunday loss to the Detroit Lions into a road victory. Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold went 18 for 25 for 240 passing yards and 2 touchdowns but was not able to convert more than 2 out of 7 times on 3rd down.
An offensive masterpiece by Sean McVay and Mike LaFleur of the Rams was on display tonight calling a great mixture of running and passing plays. Rams quarterback, Matthew Stafford, threw for 4 touchdowns and 279 yards on 25 of 34 passing completions. Running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum were a ground and pound factor rushing for 27 carries for 106 yards. Combining for the four touchdowns thrown by Matthew Stafford were caught by Cooper Kupp, Demarcus Robinson (2), and Kyren Williams.
Rams’ rookie Jared Verse got his first sack of the season and accounted for 1 solo and 2 assisted tackles. Verse continued to show improvement as he has done all season long. Sean McVay won his first head-to-head game against Minnesota Vikings’ head coach Kevin O’Connell, who was the former offensive coordinator for the Rams’ Super Bowl championship. The Vikings will now await the Indianapolis Colts on November 3rd for a Sunday Night Football matchup.
