The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their hot streak Wednesday night, defeating the Colorado Rockies 4-1 at Dodger Stadium to complete a three-game sweep and extend their winning streak to five games.

Once again, Shohei Ohtani was the story of the night.

The Dodgers superstar delivered one of his best all-around performances of the season, blasting a leadoff home run before tossing six hitless innings on the mound. Ohtani struck out seven batters while working around four walks and a hit batter, helping Los Angeles carry a combined no-hit bid into the eighth inning.

Ohtani wasted no time electrifying the crowd, crushing a 424-foot homer to center field in the first inning off Rockies starter Tomoyuki Sugano. Just two batters later, Freddie Freeman followed with a home run of his own to give Los Angeles an early 2-0 lead.

The Dodgers added another run in the fourth inning before Andy Pages launched a solo homer in the eighth, his 13th of the season. Pages also became the first Dodger to reach 50 RBIs this year.

Colorado finally broke up the no-hit bid in the eighth inning when Tyler Freeman delivered a single. The Rockies’ only run came earlier on a Willi Castro groundout. Kyle Hurt closed the door in the ninth inning to earn the first save of his MLB career.

The win improved the Dodgers to 36-20 on the season and strengthened their lead atop the National League West. Los Angeles has now won 12 of its last 14 games and continues to look every bit like a World Series contender.

The victory did come with one concern, however, as outfielder Teoscar Hernández exited the game early with a left hamstring strain after running out a ground ball in the second inning.

The Dodgers will enjoy an off-day Thursday before opening a weekend series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium.
