Naomi Osaka getting her spunk back in Tokyo
Tokyo- Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka has came out swinging with wins in the Olympics.
After coming out a couple of months ago and telling the world that she needed a mental break from tournaments and media, Osaka has looked happy in quest for gold. During the opening ceremony of the Olympics, Osaka lit up the Olympic cauldron to officially star the Olympic games. Osaka said that lighting up the cauldron was "an honor" for her.
After lighting up the cauldron and being apart of history, Osaka has been really focused with trying to win Gold in the tennis tournament. In her first two matches, Osaka seemed to be really dialed in and did not really have that many unforced errors. After Ashley Barty was upset by Sara Sorribes in the first round, Osaka became the favorite to win it all.
In a surprising turn of events, Osaka spoke with media after her second win in the tournament and stated that she is in a much happier place. "More than anything else I’m just focused on playing tennis," said Osaka "The Olympics has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, so I feel like the break that I took was very needed. I feel definitely a little bit refreshed, and I’m happy again.
