The Greater Houston Football Coaches Association honored one of the sport’s most notable father-son duos at the 2025 Touch downer of the Year dinner, presenting the prestigious award to Oliver and Andrew Luck.
Oliver Luck, former Houston Oilers quarterback and current executive director of the United Athletic Conference, has built a decorated career on and off the field. His leadership roles have included CEO and Commissioner of the XFL, athletic director at West Virginia University, and a senior position with the NCAA.
Andrew Luck, a Stratford High School alumni and seven-year NFL veteran with the Indianapolis Colts, is now the general manager at Stanford University. Known for his record-setting rookie season and four Pro Bowl selections, Luck was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022.
This year’s event also recognized some of the area’s top high school football players as part of the UIL Greater Houston High School Preseason Football Team. Honorees included Jack Dalton (QB, The Woodlands), Malachi Gamble (RB), Malachi Augustus (WR, Nimitz), and Noriel Dominguez (LB, Randle), all committed to Division I programs.
Andrew Luck addressed the young athletes with a message on leadership and perseverance.
“Be the best version of yourself, and being the best version of yourself is embracing challenges… Football is supposed to be hard… Be a great teammate. You can’t be a good leader unless you’re a great teammate.” Since 1966, the Touchdowner of the Year award has celebrated excellence in football, with past recipients including Earl Campbell, Mack Brown, and Roger Staubach.
