Eagles defensive coordinator talks about Nakobe Dean's growth

During the first week of training camp, Eagles' defensive coordinator Sean Desai talked about improvements that he had seen in different players. One of the players that he really touched and highlighted was linebacker Nakobe Dean. Dean has an up and down career with Philadelphia, but coach Desai liked what he has been seeing on the field as of late.

When asked about Dean's growth, the defensive coordinator had this to say about him. The biggest thing I see from him is just the ability and the willingness to keep growing. That's what we're looking for, really out of all these guys, and him in particular because it's a new role for him, and we're excited about it because he's got that mindset. He's been really working hard obviously in the offseason and all summer, in constant communication with his coaches and myself, and kind of just setting himself up. He's got to keep taking that mindset on a daily grind type of mindset."

If Dean can improve drastically, he could make his case to be one of the players coming off the bench. The Eagles need someone that could be the voice on the defensive side of the ball, after losing some players to trade and free agency. Little by little, Dean could be that force on and off the field. His peers like the fact that he is always willing to improve, despite a lot of the praise his coaches give him. Going into the second week of training camp, it will be interesting to see if the Eagles would put him in an uncomfortable position to see how he would adapt to certain situations.
