For the first time in nearly four years, the tennis legend in Serena Williams returned to singles play at Wimbledon. Before her match against Maya Joint, Williams set the world straight that she was not chasing the record anymore. She wanted to come out and just play the sport that she enjoyed playing.

After a two hour wait, the Goddess of tennis took the stand and was welcomed to a lot of applauses. The first few games in the first set, you could see Williams gain more confidence within her first serve. The thing is when Williams was forced to move from the middle of the court, it seemed like she felt uncomfortable. Despite, Joint being nervous, you could see that she started to use her backhand more as well as forced Williams to pick and choose if she was going to run down ball from the sides of the court. Joint took the first set 6-3.

One of the key factors that had Williams in trouble was her unforced errors and double faults i the second set. Like many times we have seen in Williams's career, she attempted to make a comeback, but each time she won a game, Joint would counter and win a few games. Things got really interesting and tense as Williams got herself back in the second set and tied the game at four. Williams forced an extra game after winning two more games to force a winner take all set

Williams' confidence seemed to grow from coming back from that last set. It seemed like she was testing Joint's confidence with hitting longer shots. Instead of allowing Joint to dictate the pace of the first serve, Williams dictated the pace with those dep heavy serves. Like the first set, Williams had trouble getting into rhythm within her first serve. She had seven unforced errors that led to points for Joint. Joint ended up taking the game 6-3 to advance to the next round
