A career-high 31 points and 12 assists from Caitlin Clark led the Fever to a 100-81 victory over Sky.
I predicted Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese would have a Bird and Magic effect on the WNBA entering this season, and boy was I right. Caitlin Clark scored 31 points and 12 assists in the much-anticipated final matchup of the regular season. Fellow rookie sensation Angel Reese grabbed 11 rebounds and scored 10 points. This led the Indiana Fever to a dominating 100-81 win over the reeling Chicago Sky on Friday night.
Clark had her 11th double-double with 8 for 14 shooting, including 5 for 9 from 3-point range. She is the only player to ever have three games of at least 25 points and 10 rebounds in a season. Reese broke a tie with Tina Charles for rookie double-doubles with 23 and passed Sylvia Fowles for the Chicago season record.
For the Fever, who have gone 5-1 since the Olympic break, Kelsey Mitchell scored 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting. A 14-point performance by NaLyssa Smith and an 11-point effort by Lexie Hull completed the scoring. As Chicago falls to 1-5 since the Olympic break, Michaela Onyenwere scored 20 points. Rachel Banham had 14 and Lindsay Allen had 19. Chennedy Carter missed her second straight game for the Sky due to safety protocols. She was really missed for her scoring and defense tonight.
There was a sellout crowd of 9,445 at Wintrust Arena on Barbie Night, honoring Reese's college nickname at LSU, Bayou Barbie. The event was attended by NBA Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O'Neal, soccer star Megan Rapinoe, and former Seattle Storm legend Sue Bird
