The Los Angeles Rams are now 2-1 after falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the final seconds of the game on Sunday. The Rams controlled the entire first half of the game, leading 19-7, and held the Eagles' offense to just 33 yards. After accounting for two sacks by Rams DT Pona Ford and NFL Defensive Rookie of the year Jared Verse that resulted in -18 yards, the Eagles finished the first half with a total of minus-1 passing yards, an all-time low under Head Coach Nick Sirianni’s reign. The Rams outgained the Eagles in yards 212-13.

The second half looked much different. The Eagles' offense found its rhythm, while the Rams defense couldn’t prevent big plays.

Following a Rams 10-yard touchdown pass from QB Matthew Stafford to RB Kyren Williams; the Eagles scored two consecutive touchdowns. After QB Jalen Hurts connected with WR AJ Brown for a 38-yard play, Hurts found TE Dallas Goedert for a 33-yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 26-14. The second touchdown occurred after a 4th-and-1 tush push conversion, where Hurts connected with WR AJ Brown for a 9-yard touchdown grab. This was Brown’s first touchdown of the season. The score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 26-21.

In the fourth quarter, the Rams had a chance to extend the lead with a 36-yard field goal attempt, but Eagles DE Jalen Carter blocked the kick, sustaining the score at 26-21, and set the stage for more late-game heroics.

The final eight minutes of the game consisted of Hurts leading a 17-play, 91-yard drive. Hurts delivered a go-ahead touchdown to WR Devonte Smith on 4th-and-goal to bring the score to 27-26 with two minutes left. Stafford and the Rams offense got the ball back with one last chance to defeat the Eagles. The Rams drove the ball down the field and lined up for a potential game-winning 44-yard field goal attempt with only three seconds left on the time clock.

The game winning moment came when Eagles DE Jordan Davis blocked K Joshua Karty’s kick and ran it in for a thrilling touchdown as time expired. This secured the Eagles win 33-26.

The Rams have a chance to redeem themselves next week when they face off against the Indianapolis Colts at Sofi Stadium on Sunday, September 28th at 1:05pm ET.
