Yordenis Ugas shocks Manny Pacquiao and pulls off the upset

Vegas- Yordenis Ugas defeats Manny Pcquiao in unanimous decision.

After Errol Spence Jr had to back out due to an eye injury two weeks ago, Manny Pacquiao decided to go ahead and fight Yordenis Ugas. Even though Pacquiao was the heavy favorite to win the fight, Ugas had a huge height difference. Prior to the fight, Pacquiao was asked if this could be his last fight and he stated that he did not know. If he continued to box, he would want to fight Spence or Terence Crawford.

In the first couple of rounds, Pacquiao was getting hit with Ugas left jab. Each time he would try to come in the inside, Ugas would set him up with a jab and pounce on him with a couple combinations. At the start of the third, Pacquiao's right eye started to swell, but that did not stop him from pushing the pace of the fight.

From the fifth to the eighth round, the fight was pretty much even. Both fighters were landing shots that really did not do much damage. Ugas was landing around 38% of his punches, while Pacquiao was landing around 37% of his punches. In the ninth and tenth round, Ugas was very aggressive with throwing his jab, which buckled Pacman a couple of times. The last two rounds Ugas took control of the fight and hit Pacquiao with everything he had. Ugas did just enough to be awarded with a stunning victory over the future Hall of Famer.
