The New York Yankees dropped a tough 6-3 decision to the New York Mets on Saturday night at Citi Field, as mistakes and missed opportunities proved costly in the latest chapter of the 2026 Subway Series.

After taking the opener of the series Friday night, the Yankees were unable to build momentum despite several scoring chances and solid offensive production from the middle of the lineup. New York stranded 11 runners on base and failed to capitalize on a bases-loaded opportunity in the seventh inning that could have changed the game.

The Mets grabbed control early thanks to aggressive baserunning and timely hitting. In the third inning, a wild pitch from Yankees starter Carlos Rodón allowed Carson Benge to score the go-ahead run, while Bo Bichette also came around on the play after a defensive breakdown from New York.

Rodón, making just his second start since returning from elbow surgery, struggled to settle in. The left-hander allowed three runs, two earned, over 3 2/3 innings while dealing with command issues throughout the night.

The Yankees offense showed flashes. Trent Grisham drove in a run, Paul Goldschmidt added an RBI, and Aaron Judge continued to spark rallies at the plate. Jazz Chisholm Jr. also contributed offensively as New York attempted to claw back late. But every time the Yankees threatened, the Mets bullpen responded.

Former Yankee Luke Weaver delivered one of the biggest moments of the game for the Mets. Entering with the bases loaded and nobody out in the seventh inning, Weaver escaped the jam by striking out Amed Rosario and Grisham before inducing an inning-ending groundout from Anthony Volpe.

Mark Vientos led the way offensively for the Mets with three RBIs, including a key two-run double in the fifth inning that gave the home team breathing room. Rookie Carson Benge also had a standout performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate.

The loss marked the Yankees’ seventh defeat in their last 10 games as they continue searching for consistency heading deeper into May. The Subway Series concludes Sunday afternoon in Queens
