Will Dennis Schroder work out in Boston

Boston- The Boston Celtics offered a one-year deal worth 5.9 million to Dennis Schroder.

Schroder recently fumbled the bag when it came to a big contract opportunity this year . Turning down a four-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers worth 84 million to pursue other interest, but no other team besides the Celtics bit.

Schroder last season was at most times the starting point guard for the Lakers. Until his struggle in the playoffs against the Phoenix Suns. Averaging 15.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game last season Schroder showed he can start on most NBA teams.

With Kemba Walker being traded away, the Celtics lack a starting point guard. Schroder is still young at 27 and provides a more youthful player. Putting him alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will help spread the floor as Schroder is quick and aggressive with the ball. While he may not be the shooter the Celtics want, he will attack the rim at any cost and more than not he will score.

Schroders has what it takes to become a great defender, yet he just lacks defensive consistency. Being as fast as he is, Schroder can follow around and be a pest on the ball to anyone of the PGs in the league.

This deal with the Celtics would be a great chance for Schroder to prove his worth. This deal would be a prove-it kind of year. You have a solid guard who help the Celtics push the pace more and get their guys running up and down the court. While Schroder would not be the playmaker the Celtics need, he is the best out there that they can get right now.

It is too early to tell if this would be a good fit for the Celtics or Schroder. Schroder had trouble meshing with Lebron James and Anthony Davis last season, so we will see how well he can mesh with Tatum and Brown. This will be a very interesting contract to watch out for.
