USA Women's Basketball team will play for Gold and could potentially break Olympic history

Tokyo- Team USA defeats Serbia 79-59.




With the finals in their sights, the USA Women's basketball team had one task to do and that was to make sure that Serbia did not upset them. The start of the game was a grind it out, physical game. Team USA was getting the looks that they wanted but could not hit their shots until late in the quarter. A 14-4 run was started with Diana Taurasi throwing a beautiful no look pass to Breanna Stewart. At the end of the quarter, Team USA had a 25-12 lead.



Even though Team USA had a sizable lead, turnovers started to haunt them in the second quarter. Jewell Loyd and Tina Charles combined for four turnovers in three minutes. Bird and crew continued to abuse Serbia inside the paint and exposed them. Stewart, and Aja Wilson was scoring at will and helped Team USA take full control of the game at the half, 41-23.



In the second half, Team USA did not take the lid off the pot. They kept pressing Serbia and forced them to take bad shots, as well as forced them to turn the ball over. Bad turnovers from Serbia turned into fastbreak points for Team USA.. Team USA reserves finished off a light day and now earned themselves a spot in the Finals.
