The Tigers hidden secret

While wide receiver T.J. Moore, linebacker Sammy Brown, and edge rusher Will Heldt seem to be the most prominent Tigers, cornerback Ashton Hampton is a hidden gem that could be a first-round pick as well.

Due to the presence of Avieon Terrell, Hampton went under the radar last season. The Atlanta Falcons selected Terrell in the second round. However, it stands to reason that Hampton is actually a better NFL prospect than Terrell, who some feel could be the most promising corner in the 2026 class.
When Hampton arrived at Clemson in 2024, he earned himself a starting position, recording 27 tackles, two interceptions (including a pick-six) and five passes defended. Then, last year, Hampton racked up 45 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, a pick and nine passes defended.
Hampton is 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, which is exceptional for his position (like Sauce Gardner), and he's also incredibly athletic. Hampton is very smooth in coverage, but he is also very physical at the point of attack, which makes him an ideal fit for an NFL team that plays a lot of press man defense. Not only that, but he is a terrific tackler, as well.
Clemson's secondary has benefitted greatly from his presence, providing a reliable, versatile option both against the run and against the pass. Hampton's ability to lock down opposing receivers has allowed the defense to concentrate on other threats, reducing the pressure on his teammates.
