Clemson takes a big hit as one of their key players get hit with a torn ACL

The ACL of Clemson Tigers safety Polo Anderson has been torn, according to coach Dabo Swinney. The injury occurred during practice at Jervey Meadows on Aug. 14. Anderson is expected to miss the entire 2026 season after tearing his ACL, which usually takes six to twelve months to recover from.
Swinney said the injury occurred as Anderson was knocked down after being tangled up during a play.
Polo was in line to play some big-time football for the Tigers this season and was expected to be a major playmaker in the secondary. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety showed enough during spring to get on Clemson’s radar for a role in the secondary. With his size, athleticism, length, and speed, he continued that momentum into fall camp.
