The Sparks overcame a slow start to get a victory over the Dallas Wings, 84-81

Bradenton, FL- The Los Angles Sparks defeat the Dallas Wings 84-81.


The Sparks got off to a very slow start, as it was a grind it out game against the Wings. Candace Parker had a decent first half, as she had 13 points and 4 assists, but outside of Parker, the Sparks struggled to get anything to drop on the offensive end. The Sparks turned the ball over six times and it led to 10 fast breakpoints for the Wings in the two quarters. The Wings led 42-38 at the half.


However, in the second half, the Sparks went on a 12-5 run to cut the lead down to three late in the third quarter. Brittney Sykes was leading the charge, as she caught fire in the third quarter. Sykes was hitting mid-range shots, getting out in the open court beating her defender off the dribble, and set up her teammates for open looks when she was doubled- teamed. With under five minutes left in regulation, the Sparks took the lead. Parker and Chelsea Gray had some great defensive stops down the stretch and hit some key shots to spring their team loose. LA outscored the Wings 25-15 in the fourth, to get the 84-81 victory over the Wings. The Sparks had four players in double figures.


Parker finished the with 22 points, 6 assists, and 13 rebounds. Sykes finished the game with 23 points.
