The Lynx falls short in epic WNBA Finals Finale 67-62
The WNBA Finals have been one for the books. Each game it has come to the wire, and it would be only fitting if the series ended in a winner take all to be crowned the 2024 WNBA Champions.
Just like the last three games, the Lynx jumped out to an early lead, making their shots more in the mid-range more than behind the arc. Minnesota, like the last game used their defense to speed up Breanna Stewart. Stewart had a hard time getting into rhythm, had a couple of turnovers, and looked frustrated at times, thanks to Minnesota's communication with double teaming and being aggressive., Like the previous game, the Lynx walked into the half with a lead. The story of the first half was the coldness of the strings on puppet master in Sabrina and Stewie. Both players combined for four points.
Minnesota saw their lead disappear like a kid in candy store. New York went on an 8-2 run, forcing the Lynx to call a timeout in less than five minutes in the second half. I don't know if the lights were getting big for the Lynx, but they had a five-minute drought, in which they were playing "hero" ball instead of playing Lynx ball and getting touches to their stars. The game slowed down, but like the series in whole, both teams were going back and forth with taking the lead.
Whew, we had another nail-biter. Up by two, all they had to do was stop the Liberty with 5.2 seconds left in regulation. Stewie was fouled and hit both free throws to tie up the game and eventual went to OT. Minnesota struggled to get their offense going in OT, as New York went on a 5-0 run. The Lynx kept fighting bac, but costly turnovers hurt them as they went onto lose in an epic WNBA Finals
