Team USA takes out Spain and will advance to the semifinals 95-81

Tokyo- Team USA eliminates Spain and will move to the semifinals.

Team USA scrapped their way into the quarterfinals and had to face the #2 team in the Olympics, which was Spain. Prior to the game, Team USA already defeated the Spaniards in Vegas 83-76, which Spain had in their back of their minds. The air was thick with anticipation and pride Monday morning as both teams faced off. Team USA jumped out to an early lead, which was a great sight to see. However, they had no answer for Ricky Rubio. Rubio was taking advantage of the slower Jrue Holiday and had him on his heels majority of the quarter. With under five minutes left in the first, Kevin Durant started to take over the game. Durant hit three consecutive shots that hit the bottom of the net. Team USA finished the first on a bad note.They had four turnovers, which helped Spain go on a 11-2 run to end the quarter.

Team USA struggled to find their long range shot in the second. In the early stages of the quarter, Team USA went 2 out of 13 from three point land and tried to force the issue. Devin Booker and crew struggled to find any type of rhythm until late in the second. Team USA went on a 16-6 run to tie up the game at the half, 43-43.

Durant was not going to let Team USA go down without a fight in the second half. He decided to put Team USA on his back and started to make plays for himself and his teammates. At the five minute mark in the third, Team USA could not miss. They hit six consecutive shots and blew the game wide up. After being up by 14, Team USA had trouble containing Rubio late in the quarter.. Rubio was doing all he could to keep his team within striking distance and cut Team USA's lead to six points at the end of the third.

Damian Lillard decided that he was going to be the scoring machine in the fourth, while KD was getting his rest. Lillard was very aggressive and scored six points within the first three minutes of the fourth. Lillard sparked a 10-2 run, which put Team USA in double figures midway in the quarter. Team USA hit some key shots down the stretch,which kept Spain at bay. Team USA went on to knock out Spain in Olympic play.

Durant finished with 29 points.
