Suns get the victory in messy game against Golden State 108-104

Durant played at the Chase Center for the first time since February 2021 with the Brooklyn Nets. There were no fans were allowed in the building because of the pandemic. He was injured in March when the Suns last visited. Durant was greeted with warm applause from the fans, his first appearance since he led the Warriors to a pair of championships with two NBA Finals MVP awards and three straight Finals berths from 2017-19.

Despite the fact that Kevin Durant did not shoot well on the opening night, the Phoenix Suns still beat the home team in the first matchup between the two powerhouse teams in the Pacific Division. The game was a back-and-forth affair throughout the night with plenty of exciting plays. Steph Curry finished with 27 points while Devin Booker topped that with 32 points of his own to win the game.

After Curry scored seven straight points at the 8:21 mark of the third quarter, Phoenix called a timeout. A 27-5 run opened the third quarter for Golden State, while the Suns shot 2 for 14.

Devin Booker added a layup and a three with 4:51 left. Josh Okogie hit a baseline three with 1:09 remaining, and Eric Gordon connected from long range with 45 seconds left before Curry scored. Nurkic finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds in his Suns debut with a driving layup in the closing seconds. In his Warriors debut against his most recent team, Chris Paul scored 14 points, provided nine assists, and grabbed six rebounds. Booker finished with 32
