Serena Williams decided to withdraw from Yarra Valley Classic after shoulder injury
New York- After defeating Danielle Collins 6-2, 4-6, and 10-6 on Thursday, Serena Williams decided that she wanted to withdraw from the tournament after sustaining a shoulder injury.
After winning her first set against Collins, Williams dropped her second set and looked as if something was wrong with her serve. On the third set, Williams closed it out and looked happy to have defeated such a touch opponent in Collins. In a presser, Williams said that she was excited to face Ashleigh Barty in the semifinal.
"It's definitely a good opportunity to see where I'm going against the current No. 1, that's really important for me," Williams said. "Obviously I think for her, as well, to see where she's going against my game.
Williams decided that she was not a 100% and decided to rest for the upcoming Australian Open.
