Tokyo- For the first time ever, the Olympics are trying something new with bringing in a virtual series prior to the start of the Olympics.

With the advancement in technology, the International Olympic Committee wanted to tap into the tech space to market their brand, as well as get fans excited about the Olympics. They will come out with their first virtual game called the Olympic Virtual Series. Each game will have an event like the Olympics where players can become virtual Olympic champions.

Details have not been issued on how players can play, but the committee issued this statement. "All five OVS events will differ in form and concept and will operate via the sport's respective publisher platform," and that "additional information on how to participate, as well as prizes included with select events, will be announced in due course."

The Olympic virtual series will start May 13 and finish up June 23.
