Liberty defeats the Sun and will be going to the WNBA Finals 87-84

With a chance to make their first WNBA Finals appearance in 20 years with a victory, Breanna Stewart and crew had to take care of the Sun. Within the last two games, New York played more zone than man, because it was effective with stopping Dewanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas from getting into rhythm.

New York faced a bit of adversity in the first half as they were down double digits. Their superstars did not really have much of an impact in the two quarters until late in the second quarter and struggled collectively as a team. Stewart and Betnijah Laney held down the fort as they combined for 29 points to help New York 45-44 lead over the Sun.

In the second half, it was the Laney and Stewart show. Both of these women put on a show as they went board to board as they extend New York's led to double figure. Even, when Connecticut went on a mini run, both players forced a couple of steals and blocks. As we have seen all season long, the Sun are fighters. Late in the fourth quarter, the Sun went on a 10-2 run to tie the game up at 69.

Back and forth, both of these teams went until the cape flew back on Stewie. Stewie hit some clutch buckets down the stretch, while Jonquel Jones came on strong at the end of the fourth quarter to help Liberty secure a spot in the WNBA Finals
