Patrick McEnroe and Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado Launch The Mac Daddy Show

New three-times-weekly series debuts with Michael Strahan and promises candid conversations with leading figures in sports, entertainment and culture

Patrick McEnroe and Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado are taking audiences beyond the highlight reels and public personas with The Mac Daddy Show, a new interview and sports-talk series launching August 26.

The program brings together McEnroe, the veteran ESPN tennis analyst, executive and former U.S. Davis Cup captain, and Salgado, a sports executive and insurance adviser whose relationships extend across athletics, entertainment, media and business.

Released three times each week, the show will combine commentary on major sporting events with in-depth interviews exploring the experiences, relationships and decisions that shaped some of today’s most recognizable personalities.

“People know our guests for what they’ve accomplished,” McEnroe said. “What we’re interested in is who they are when the cameras are off. This show is about the stories you don’t usually hear and the moments that shaped them, the people who influenced them, and the experiences that made them successful.”

The debut episode features Pro Football Hall of Famer and Emmy Award-winning television host Michael Strahan. During the conversation, Strahan discusses the “when, not if” mentality instilled in him by his father and how it influenced both his football career and his life away from the field.

Strahan also explains why he believed in never “cheating the game,” how he recognized the right time to retire and what it took to move from professional football into television. Recalling his first Oscars red-carpet assignment, he describes the reassurance he received from Robin Roberts when she told him, “You belong.”

For Salgado, the relaxed format offers a natural extension of his longtime role as a connector within the sports and entertainment industries.

“I am so excited about this project with Patrick McEnroe,” Salgado said. “I am able to share some great stories—with some great guests—in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. I love connecting people, and a conversation is the best way to do that.”

The show’s announced guest lineup spans several generations and fields. Upcoming episodes are expected to feature business executive Bob Iger; Emmy Award-winning actors Bryan Cranston and Alan Alda; tennis legend and equality advocate Billie Jean King; FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Brandi Chastain; and Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 U.S. Olympic “Miracle on Ice” hockey team.

Other scheduled guests include award-winning ESPN anchor Hannah Storm, Hockey Hall of Famer and six-time Stanley Cup champion Bryan Trottier, and Emmy Award-winning sportscaster and former NFL player Ahmad Rashad.
