Georgia allows one score in 48-7 victory over UT Martin


The University of Georgia entered Labor Day Weekend as the two-time defending National Champions. The Bulldogs named junior Carson Beck as the starting quarterback for this season, which will add to the upperclassmen leadership in Georgia’s locker room. Athens, Georgia was the location for the 2023-2024 season kickoff against the University of Tennessee-Martin.


The word that can describe the game’s summary is dominance. Georgia only allowed a total of 262 total yards defensively against the Skyhawks. Bulldogs accumulated 559 total yards offensively including 400 passing yards. Carson Beck completed 21 of 31 passes for 294 yards throwing 1 touchdown and most importantly 0 turnovers. The Bulldogs' offense showed a balanced approach with both, senior running back Kendall Milton and freshman Roderick Robinson II rushed for 103 yards with 1 touchdown.


Experienced wide outs blanked UT Martin throughout the game and received 400 yards for 2 touchdowns, Brock Bowers and Mekhi Mews led the way accumulating 8 receptions for 152 yards. Georgia maintained the lead the whole game scoring 17 unanswered points in the first half. The defense allowed a 4th quarter touchdown ending the shutout and notched their first win of the season 48 to 7. Georgia prepares to host Ball State University for Week 2 before opening their SEC schedule the following week against the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. The Bulldogs begin the road to the SEC championship with a non conference win in Week 1 and have their eyes set on a conference title, and a berth in the College Football Playoff.
