The Arizona Diamondbacks looked like a team ready to turn the page Tuesday night.

Behind a dominant start from Eduardo Rodriguez and a breakout offensive inning, Arizona rolled to a 9-0 shutout victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Chase Field, snapping a recent skid with authority.

Rodriguez was the tone-setter from the jump. The veteran left-hander carved through Pittsburgh’s lineup, delivering seven scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out seven.

“I felt like everything was working tonight,” Rodriguez said. “Fastball command, mixing in the changeup — we stayed aggressive, and the defense had my back the whole way.”

Arizona’s offense backed him up in a big way, breaking the game open in the sixth inning with a five-run rally that turned a tight contest into a blowout.

Geraldo Perdomo came through with a clutch two-run double, while Adrian Del Castillo added a pair of RBIs to keep the pressure on. By the time the inning ended, the Diamondbacks had seized complete control.

“That inning is who we can be,” manager Torey Lovullo said. “Grinding at-bats, passing the baton, getting the big hit when it matters. That’s the identity we’re chasing.”

Ketel Marte and Gabriel Moreno also contributed to the offensive surge, helping Arizona pile on late insurance runs and remove any doubt. For a team that had struggled to string together consistent offense in recent games, the outburst felt like a release.

“You could feel it in the dugout,” Perdomo said. “Once we got a couple guys on, everybody just stayed locked in. We knew it was coming.” Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks’ bullpen ensured the night ended just as clean as it started, finishing off a combined two-hit shutout — one of Arizona’s most complete pitching performances of the season.

On the other side, the Pirates couldn’t find any rhythm offensively, failing to capitalize on limited opportunities and going hitless with runners in scoring position. With the win, Arizona not only snapped a four-game losing streak but also regained a bit of confidence heading into the rest of the series. "We needed this,” Lovullo added. “Not just the win, but the way we won — pitching, defense, timely hitting. That’s Diamondbacks baseball.”
