D-Backs Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Named Finalists for 2023 MLB All-Star Ballot

The finalists for the 2023 Scotts MLB All-Star Ballot have been announced, and among them are Arizona Diamondbacks' rising stars Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Both players are vying for their first career All-Star selections, adding to the excitement surrounding the D-Backs' talented roster. Corbin Carroll, with an impressive 1,053,815 fan votes, is in contention to secure his maiden All-Star appearance. If successful, he would make history as the first-ever D-Backs rookie to earn a fan-elected starting position. Carroll's inclusion would also mark him as the second D-Backs rookie ever, and the first position player, to participate in the Midsummer Classic. Wade Miley achieved this feat in 2012, further highlighting the significance of Carroll's potential selection. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., with 844,362 fan votes, is also aiming for his first career All-Star nod. Alongside Carroll, Gurriel Jr. is striving to become the first D-Backs outfielder to earn a starting assignment since Luis Gonzalez in 2001. A successful bid would place him among an elite group of only six D-Backs players who have received a fan election in the team's history. The distinguished list includes notable names such as Paul Goldschmidt (2014-15), Jay Bell (1999), Gonzalez, Ketel Marte (2019), and Matt Williams (1999). The next phase of voting, Phase 2, will commence on Monday, June 26 at 9:00 a.m. AZ time and will be exclusively available online and through mobile devices at MLB.com/vote, all 30 Club websites, the MLB App, and the MLB Ballpark App. Fans will have a four-day window to cast their votes, with the voting period concluding on Thursday, June 29, at 9:00 a.m. PHX time. The winners will be unveiled on ESPN at 4:00 p.m. AZ time on the same day. During Phase 2, fans will have the opportunity to vote once per day, with daily voting limits resetting at 12:00 a.m. ET. Due to Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves finishing as the NL's leading vote-getter and receiving an automatic starting assignment, only the next four outfielders advanced to Phase 2 for the remaining two starting outfield spots. Supporters of the Arizona Diamondbacks are encouraged to participate in the voting process to show their support for Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. as they strive to secure their places in the highly anticipated 2023 MLB All-Star Game.
