The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) announced two 2025 preseason watch lists, including the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for the nation's top defensive player. Clemson was the only ACC school with multiple players on the list, placing three returning starters: defensive linemen T.J. Parker and Peter Woods, and cornerback Avieon Terrell.
Parker, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive end, recorded 57 tackles, 11 sacks, and six forced fumbles last season. In two years, he has 89 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, and three fumble recoveries.
Woods, a 6-foot-3, 315-pound defensive tackle, had 28 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks in 11 games last season. Over two years, he has 54 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.
Terrell, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback, started all 14 games last season, contributing two interceptions, 4.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles.
All three players were named to the USA TODAY Sports All-ACC preseason team and featured in 2026 NFL mock drafts. Their presence on the field has been pivotal in establishing Clemson's reputation as a defensive powerhouse. Parker's relentless pass-rushing ability often disrupts opposing offenses, creating opportunities for turnovers. Meanwhile, Woods' strength at the line and Terrell's coverage skills in the secondary have consistently limited opponents' scoring opportunities, contributing significantly to Clemson's success in recent seasons.
