Clark has a huge game that ended in a loss for the Fever
A strong performance from Caitlin Clark does not prevent New York from routing Indiana again 91-80, thanks to Stewart.
In front of a sellout crowd at the Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Breanna Stewart led a balanced New York offense with 24 points to lead her team to a 91-80 victory over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
While Indiana lost by 36 points on Thursday, this one was more competitive thanks to Clark's strong performance. As the number one pick in the WNBA draft, she came into the game averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Fever (0-3). It was her best performance so far in her young professional career, as she finished with 22 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. She also had eight turnovers.
The Liberty other four starters had successful games with Betnijah Laney-Hamilton: 13 PTS, 4 AST, 3 3PM, Sabrina Ionescu: 12 PTS, 5 AST, 4 3PM and Courtney Vandersloot: 10 PTS, 4 REB, 5 AST. Jonquel Jones also had 14 PTS, 12 REB, and 5 AST as she stood on business.
Here are Clark's thoughts on playing in New York, which was her first time. “This arena is amazing. It’ll be fun for me to go around to all the new WNBA arenas and kind of check off the box,” Clark said. “This is certainly one that’s definitely up there. I know the crowd will be incredible tonight, so just enjoy it.”
