The Atlanta Dream showcased their offensive strengths with multiple players scoring in double figures, including Rhyne Howard and Brittney Griner with 18 points each, Naz Hillmon with 14, and Allisha Gray with 11. However, their defense struggled to contain Connecticut, ultimately allowing the Sun to score 84 points. This defensive lapse, coupled with a lack of consistent rebounding, contributed to their defeat.

The Sun starters combined for 75 points, with Marina Mabrey scoring a season-high 34 points and Tina Charles adding 19. Mabrey made 13 of 22 field goals, including 3 of 8 three-pointers, and 5 of 6 free throws for her fourth career 30-point game. She fell just two points short of her career-high 36. Additionally, Bria Hartley scored 11 points, and rookie Saniya Rivers contributed three steals and two blocks. Olivia Nelson-Ododa did not play in the second half due to an ankle injury.

The Dream were on a 4-game winning streak before this loss. Despite their offensive efforts, the defensive struggles and Connecticut's strong performance, particularly from Mabrey and Charles, proved too much to overcome. The Dream will need to address these issues to regain momentum in their upcoming games.
