Las Vegas Aces beat Golden State Valkyries 84-79 on Saturday for their first home victory of the season behind 28 points and 14 rebounds from A'ja Wilson and 27 points from Jackie Young. Wilson had her third consecutive double-double and fifth this season. Young was 6 of 8 from 3-point range.
Las Vegas' Chelsea Gray added 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists. With 1,134 assists, Gray moves past current Aces coach Becky Hammon (1,133) as the franchise's career assist leader.
The Aces (7-3), the defending WNBA champions, have won three straight following back-to-back losses. This victory is significant for the Aces as it marks their first home win of the season, boosting team morale and confidence. It also showcases the strong performances of key players like A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young, emphasizing their capability to lead the team. Additionally, Chelsea Gray's achievement as the franchise's career assist leader underscores her vital role in the team's success.
Gabby Williams scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting for the Valkyries (6-5). Veronica Burton added 15 points, Janelle Salaun scored 11 and Kayla Thornton had 10.
Chennedy Carter (leg) missed her second consecutive game for the Aces. Carter's absence is a huge loss for the team. She has been a valuable asset to the team off the bench with her scoring and energy boost. My best wishes are with her for a speedy recovery
