WTA extends tennis schedule

New York- The WTA has decided to add more events to the 2021 schedule.

Since the global pandemic, there has been tennis players opting out of tournaments to ensure that their families will be safe, as well as themselves, back to back tournaments, and players testing positive for COVID-19. It has been a long and tiring adjustment that the WTA had to adapt to.

On Friday, the WTA announced that they will add a couple of more tournaments to the 2021 schedule. Clay tournament will return to Poland for the first time since 2016. The 250-level event will take place in the city of Gydnia, replacing the longtime Citi Open event that took place in Washington, D.C.

In addition to Western & Southern Open, which will be held in its regular Cincinnati home after taking place in Flushing Meadows last summer. Lastly, Ohio will welcome an inaugural event in Cleveland before the US Open.
