Wild finish in Baltimore leads Ravens over Rams 37 to 31 in overtime

The Baltimore Ravens had an opportunity of winning their 10th game of the season.  Leading the AFC North, Baltimore knew how important it was to execute on Sunday.  The Los Angeles Rams have been playing consistent football coming off of a three-game winning streak.  The Rams held a 20 to 17 lead and showed an explosive running game with standout Kyren Williams carrying the football 25 times for 114 yards.  Only a field goal was given to the Ravens in the 3rd quarter, however the Rams offense sputtered in the third when their only score was a safety that was generated by their defense.  Baltimore took the lead in the 4th quarter on a 33-yard field goal by Justin Tucker.

The Rams struck back with a Demarcus Robinson touchdown followed by a failed two-point conversion attempt.  Baltimore followed with a Zay Flowers touchdown and a two-point conversion with the LA Rams successfully converting a 36-yard field goal to tie the game 31 to 31 and take the game into overtime.  Several missed opportunities came on both sides of the ball for both teams.

During the overtime session, both teams had a possession and the defenses held strong for both Baltimore and the Rams.  With 7:42 left in overtime, the Rams punted the ball to punt-returner Tylan Wallace and clinched the win for the Ravens with a 76-yard touchdown return.  His balance and speed were not to be caught during the return and has Baltimore sitting in first place in the AFC with now a 10-3 record.  For the Rams, a hard-fought loss drops their record to 6-7, but are still in the hunt for a NFC Wildcard possibility.

Rams’ quarterback Matthew Stafford efficiently passed for 294 yards going 23 of 41 completions and 3 touchdowns, while Lamar Jackson passed for 316 yards for 24 of 43 completions, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Lamar Jackson’s rushing ability proved to be a difference maker especially on the last drive of regulation for Baltimore.  A resurgence for Odell Beckham Jr. against his former team helps Baltimore in multiple ways catching 4 passes for 97 and 1 touchdown.  The Ravens will travel to play the Jacksonville Jaguars on a Sunday Night Football game next week, while the Rams will host the Commanders to keep pace in the NFC.
