Venezuela shocks Team USA in the World Baseball Classic Finals 3-2

Venezuela avoids an eighth inning meltdown and won their first World Baseball classic.

Let's head to the 8th inning! Venezuela had a 2-0 lead against the Americans, but the heavy hitting Bryce Harper had something else in mind. Harper chased an inside slider and hit a two-run homer that tied the game. It seemed like momentum was shifting to the United States heading to the ninth, but the baseball Gods was like we have something else in store. Suárez doubled to the left-center gap, which allowed Venezuela to run home and win the game in thrilling fashion.

“Nobody believed in Venezuela but now we win the championship,” Suárez said. “This is a celebration for all the Venezuelan country.”
