Prior to the season opener against the Seahawks, the 9ers knew that they had some key players that were either injured or transition with another team. Their head coach Klye e Shanahan have stated that they were going to try to stick and see what would work. In the season opener against the Seahawks, Brock Purdy struggled to put drives together. Let's head to the fourth quarter with the game knotted at 10. Driving for a potential score, Purdy threw his second pick of the day, which turned into points for Seattle
With under three minutes left in regulation and the game on the line, Purdy delivered a 45-yard strike to Ricky Pearsall, which put them into field goal range. San Fran did not want to be too aggressive, so they ran the ball, attempting to kill some of the clock. On a third and short, Purdy threw a wild slingshot touchdown in double coverage to Jake Tonges to take the lead for the go- ahead win 17-13.
