The Storm made a statement against the Sun, 95-72
Bradenton, FL- The Seattle Storm key players stepped up in a big win against the Connecticut Sun, 95-72.
The Storm's key players, shined as they contributed to a team victory. Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, Natasha Howard, and Jewell Loyd all had double figures, as they made the Connecticut Sun play to their speed. Bird and Stewart pushed the pace of the game, as they wanted to be the aggressor against the Suns. Stewart started off the game slow, but in the second half, she was very active on the boards, used her size and speed to get Brionna Jones to foul her, and was not hesitant when she caught the ball in the high post to make her moves. Stewart finished the game with 19 points, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds. Bird finished the game with 13 points and 3 assists. Howard finished the game with 12 points, 3 assists, and 11 rebounds. Loyd finished the game with 11 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds.
On the defensive end, the Storm made it difficult for the Suns to get some type of rhythm. They pressured Alyssa Thomas and hounded the Suns' guards. Each shot that the Sun's took was tough. The Storm did have very few turnovers in this game and made sure that each basket counted. The Storm shot around 62% for the game and after beating the Sun, Seattle is having its franchise-best start with a 10-1 record.
