For the first time ever, the NBA attempted to do a little something different with the All-Star Game. Instead of the typical East vs West format, the NBA made it the World vs the Stars. With the format, it was three games that would be played: more like the in-game tournament. For the most part the first game was competitive. Things had gotten pretty interesting as the Stars went on an 8=2 run and forced OT. Yes, for the first time ever, there was an OT, deciding, who was going to win the game. Scottie Barnes hit a three-point game winner for the Stripes to win. and advance to the next round
In the next game, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Learnard put on a shooting clinic in the first five minutes of the game for the Stars. Team USA went on 9-2 run to make the game a one-point game, but D. Fox hit an ice-i my veins walk off three to send the star's home.
The next game was the deciding game in who was going to play in the championship game between the World and Stripes. Prior to the game, NBC Sports did a promo of Victor Wembanyama and his comeback from a blood clot. It was a powerful message of passion and purpose that Wemby displays each and every game. It was also a reminder that you never know what anybody is dealing with and give grace to others.
Now, back to the game! Wemby came out the gate very aggressive. It was something like, give me the ball and get out my darn way. Wemby was getting to hi spots on the floor and hit a shot over KD. His teammates fed off his energy. The young gunners' lead disappeared as Kawhi Learnard was activated and hit 11 straight points to put Team Stripes. Kawhi finished the game with 31 points as he willed his team to the finals.
The winner of the stripes vs stars was the young guns in the Stars team as they defeated 47-21 Anthony Edwards won the MVP of the game.
