The 24th Super Bowl Soulful Celebration was an event that should be praised

Kim Dillinger

The 24th Super Bowl soulful celebration formerly known as the the Super Bowl gospel celebration was held on February 8 at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona hosted by comedian Willie Moore Jr. Willie, who was the perfect host for the celebration.

The celebration kicked off with a performance by the Tye Tribbett choir director and founder of the Grammy-nominated and Stellar Award-winning gospel group Tye Tribbett & G.A. Other musical guest performed throughout the night including Patti LaBelle, Israel Houghton, and Kierra Sheard-Kelly.

Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts was honored with “ faith in action “ award for his outstanding contribution and commitment to the Philadelphia community and his native hometown Texas. With this being my second year covering the celebration I was delighted to be there in person. Last year the event was pre recorded due to the pandemic which did not take away the deliver from the performances . Being in the room took me to a place I didn’t think I could get to. As a women of faith who grew up in a Christian household but never really witnessing the power of the Holy Ghost until this night. Kierra Sheard's performance was heartfelt. I cried, I danced but most of all I received the message that she delivered. One of my favorite songs from her is “ gracefully broken “ the words from the song touches my soul everytime but became more powerful hearing it live.

The 24th annual Super Bowl soulful Gospel celebration was a blessing for all those who attended. The vibrations in the room was so high faith filled believers worshiped & praised. Let’s just say the Holy Spirit entered the room that night.
